Attachment-Based
Therapy
With Dr. Eli Kraiem,
Clinical Psychologist
As Seen In
I'm a professor and relationship expert with 10+ years of advanced training in attachment, relationships, and emotional development.
Do you constantly worry about your relationships?
Do you feel like the same insecurities keep showing up no matter who you're with?
Are you seeing patterns across relationships — romantic, friends, work, etc.?
Maybe you overthink texts and conversations once they're over. Or you're always trying to fix the relationship before anything is actually wrong. Perhaps you are conflict avoidant or struggle to make a commitment to any relationship.
The frustrating part is that these patterns often show up everywhere: Romantic relationships, friendships, family relationships, even work.
If you know something’s not working, but aren’t sure how to change it, I can help.
Clients Come To Me When They:
Keep dating “the same person”
Fear abandonment
Need constant reassurance
Avoid conflict
Can’t seem to commit to a romantic partner
Struggle with boundaries
Feel emotionally reactive
Have unstable relationships
Overthink interactions
Lose themselves in relationships
Rocky friendships or work relationships
Most attachment struggles aren't really about the present moment.
They're rooted in past experiences that taught you how relationships are supposed to go.
Over time, those lessons become automatic patterns that shape how you expect to connect, trust, communicate, and respond to vulnerability.
The good news is attachment patterns are learned and can be unlearned.
What Attachment-Based
Therapy With Me Is Like
Many people spend years trying to manage symptoms without understanding where patterns came from.
In our work together, we'll explore how your early relationships shaped your sense of safety, connection, and self-worth. We'll identify the attachment wounds, relational experiences, and emotional patterns that continue to influence your life today.
This isn't about blaming parents or endlessly analyzing the past.
It's about understanding 1) why you react the way you do, 2) what those reactions are trying to protect, 3) how to create healthier ways of relating.
As awareness grows, you’ll begin seeing and making changes. You learn how to tolerate discomfort, communicate needs more clearly, build healthier relationships, and stop repeating patterns that leave you feeling stuck.
My approach combines insight, emotional processing, and real-world change.
Therapy Approaches I Use
-
Helps uncover the relationship patterns and attachment wounds shaping your sense of safety, trust, and connection.
-
Helps you identify and process deeper emotions so you can respond rather than react in relationships.
-
Explores internal conflicts, needs, and desires, and how past experiences influence current relationship expectations and reactions.
-
Brings unconscious patterns into awareness so they no longer control your relationships and choices.
-
Helps identify and challenge thoughts that fuel insecurity, self-doubt, and relationship anxiety.
-
Strengthens emotional regulation and distress tolerance so difficult emotions feel more manageable.

“When we slow things down and can clearly understand patterns, we can begin changing them.”
About Dr. Eli Kraiem
My therapy is designed for people who want to understand themselves on a deeper level while making meaningful changes in their lives and relationships.
I help clients connect the dots between their past experiences and their current struggles so they can stop repeating patterns that no longer serve them.
Clients often appreciate that I combine compassion with directness. I don't simply sit back and ask how that feels. I'll challenge you when necessary, help you think more critically about your patterns, and support you in making the changes that matter most to you.
In addition to my clinical work, I'm an adjunct professor teaching couples therapy and relationship dynamics, lecture nationally on attachment and relationships, and supervise other therapists. My work is rooted in helping people build healthier relationships with others and with themselves.
Outside of therapy, I'm married with two children and live on Manhattan's Upper East Side. I enjoy music and singing, mindfulness and meditation practice, and exploring the intersection of psychology and mysticism. When I can find the time, you'll usually find me spending time with my family. If you're ready to take the first step, I'd be honored to connect.
Availability: I provide in-person therapy in New York City, and telehealth sessions for clients throughout the states of New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
